About gistmint
gistmint turns any video, audio or YouTube link into clean, searchable text. Paste a link or drop a file and get a transcript you can copy, quote, caption and export — as plain text, TXT or SRT — without scrubbing through a timeline to find the words you need.
The idea started from a simple frustration: the spoken word is where most of the value in a video lives, but it is locked inside the audio. Getting it out usually means paying for a heavy transcription app, wrestling with a clunky tool, or copying a rough auto-caption line by line. gistmint is built to do the one thing you actually came for — give you the text, accurately, and get out of your way.
How it works
Paste a public YouTube link, or upload a video or audio file. When you run the transcript, gistmint sends the audio to an AI speech-to-text model, which listens to the whole thing — even when there are no captions — and returns clean, punctuated text. You can then read it, copy it, or download it as TXT or SRT and take it wherever you need.
Transcription runs on paid AI models, so it works on a simple, honest credit model: browsing the tools is free, new accounts get free credits to try it, and you only spend a credit when you actually run a transcript and get a result back. If a run fails, the credits are released, so you are never charged for something you did not receive.
gistmint is for anyone who needs the words out of a video: creators pulling captions and quote cards from their clips, social managers turning talks into posts, students and researchers making a lecture or interview searchable, and teams keeping a readable record of a recording. Each tool does the boring, necessary part well and then hands you the text.
We would rather earn trust by being useful and honest than by overpromising. The plan is to keep the transcript tools accurate and fairly priced, add the retention layer — a library, channels, folders and bulk — as it proves genuinely helpful, and charge only for the AI compute that truly costs money to run. If we cannot do something well or honestly yet, the page will say so plainly instead of faking it.
What we stand for
Any source, real text
Paste a YouTube link or upload a video, audio file or podcast, and gistmint turns the spoken words into clean, searchable, exportable text. Get a full transcript, download subtitles and captions, or convert subtitle formats — one job per page, done well.
Free credits to start
Create an account and you get free credits to try transcription right away. There is no card required to start, and no trial that quietly expires — you just get some credits and use them when you want.
You only pay when it works
Running a transcript spends credits because the speech-to-text runs on paid AI models. Reusing the result — copying it, downloading TXT or SRT, or converting subtitle formats — never spends a credit. And if a run fails, the credits it would have cost are released, so you are never charged for a transcript you did not get.
Honest about your audio
To turn speech into text, your file is sent to an AI transcription model to be processed. We use it only to produce your transcript — we do not sell it, mine it, or keep it to train anything. We would rather tell you plainly where your audio goes than pretend the work happens somewhere it does not.
One tool, one job
Each gistmint page is built around a single, clear task — a YouTube transcript, a video transcription, a caption download — so you are never hunting through menus. When a feature is still coming, the page says so instead of pretending it is ready.
A retention layer, not a paywall
Pro adds a monthly credit balance of 600 credits and AI transcription of your own video and audio files. Paying is always for real transcription compute, never for unlocking text you already made.
Turn a video into text
Paste a YouTube link or upload a file. New accounts get free credits to try it, and you only pay when a transcript succeeds.
